We are the Optimist Club of Reno, NV. We are the local chapter of
Optimist International, a worldwide volunteer organization with more than 2,500 local Clubs. Members work each day to make the future brighter by bringing out the best in children, in their communities and in themselves.

Since each Club is autonomous and run by members in their community, Optimists have the unique flexibility to serve the youth of their area in any way they see fit. Optimist Clubs see a need in their community and react to it.

Optimists conduct over 65,000 community service projects each year, spending over $78 million in their communities. Annually, it is estimated over six million kids are positively affected by Optimist programs.

As a very active and successful Club, the Optimist Club of Reno has been able to provide thousands of children opportunities and experiences they would not otherwise have had.

Come join our volunteering efforts and have a great time giving back to our community.

Welcome Optimists!

Our Creed, shown below, is a powerful tool for positive change.  We may come from different walks of life (that adds excitement), but we all try to live by the creed. Memorize it. Recite it daily and it will set you in a positive direction. With our long list of Optimist Club Programs you're bound to find a few things you'd like to be more involved in.

Optimist Club of Reno Plan for 2021 and 2022. Goals: Distinguished club, raise $50,000 with 3 major fundraisers, award $12,000+ in scholarships, inaugural Ray Pezonella Memorial Golf Tournament, sponsor 3+ youth service programs, host Junior Golf Qualification Tournament, sponsor 2 winners to District Oratoric Competition, rebuild four JOI Clubs, eight members attend Pacific Central District, host Optimist International Convention, two speakers per month and one guest invited for lunch meeting, four officers honored

Join our in-person, one-hour, weekly meetings at the GoldNSilver Inn, 970 W. Four St., Reno, NV 89503, Tuesdays starting precisely at noon. These information-packed meetings are fun and exciting.

Members are encouraged to bring a guest as a prospective member, and the guest will receive a free lunch. But beware, as you know, once you get a taste of what the Optimists are about, it's hard to pass up on becoming a member!

For those who cannot attend in-person, meetings are simultaneously "Zoomed" online. Zoom invitations are sent out weekly, via email, to all members.

We certainly prefer the personal interaction of the in-person interface, but the Zoom connection helps when we can't be there. Attendance by either in-person or by Zoom is a requisite.

Per our Optimist Creed, which follows below, let us keep speaking Health, Happiness, and Prosperity to EVERYONE we meet! AND to ourselves!

Promise Yourself

To be so strong that no one can disturb your peace of mind.

To talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person you meet.

To make all your friends feel like there is something in them.

To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.

To think only the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best.

To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.

To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to greater achievements of the future.

To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.

To give so much time to improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.

To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
